First ride = Broke axle
If I were you guys I wouldn't lift the i model machines.
You already have 12" of clearance to begin with. Add some 27" or 28" tires and you are sitting at 13" or 13.5". Thats plenty!!
I agree with roys. It seems that all the axle problems are coming from the severe angles you are runnin' the axles at. It doesn't seem worth the extra 1 to 2 inches clearance.
I would hate to see you spend big $$$ on Gorilla Axles and have them go SNAP as well!! That would suck!!!

i will have some pictures on here soon of my cat all cleaned up and standing alone.
Its huge!!! 14 1/2 inch of GC!. I can ride over a 5 gallon bucket standing straight up,and I dont have a lift!
I have 27 zillas air to about 20 psi, and I have my shocks crancked up to ride a little stiff, and that gave me about 2 inches right there.
I have a 300 AC had it for 2 years ,no problems. I put on a lift and 3 days later BOOM. left rear CV Busted.
Coincedence? I dont think so.

Take a look at the Polaris on gorilla-axle.com with 22" of ground clearance. There is no reason why we can't our lift kits. When I bought my lift from Highlifter, the salesman said Cat had a casting problem with their axles in the early i models but you should be ok. 5 miles on it and SNAP.

I'm going to reinstall my axle tommorrow and the lift is coming off. Maybe I'll ask High Lifter if they want it back.
How much air do you think the 28"vamp EDl's can take?? I've run 40psi in them without any problems. They are about 26" tall with 5psi. If you look at them next to a 28X10.50 Law with the same air, they are like 2" shorter.
A guy told me one time years ago to take your new tires and put about 50 psi in them and set them out in the sun for a few days so they could stretch. We'll it didn't work with the Bi-claws, that cost me a tire. Shredded!!! I think that was almost 10yrs ago.

First ride = Broke axle
I broke two axles on my 500i, after the second one I just parked it, screw it I said. I only use it now with stock tires and slow trails. IRS on the cats are not made for big tires, simple as that. I got my parts under warranty, there is a rumor though that some 500i's had defect axles. I broke both sides and both are replaced with new ones, I'm not going to risk using my big tires again because its off warranty. I'm going back to a solid axle machine, reliability is king.

I talked to Jeff at Highlifter today while I was ordering my new front tires (28X10.50 Laws). I told him about all the people breaking the rear inner's and he said he thought something was up because he was getting way too many complaints. He said he would look into it. ????
