Hi, Olddirtybastard I sorry to hear about your rear axle. I was just wondering if you had a lift kit on your quad and did you change the size otf the tires? Did the inner axle break inside or did the cv housing break? I think a lift kit puts to much stress on the cv joints because they aready on a 30% angle and the power has to go somewhere. So far I have had no problems
I also read somewhere a guy was riding up a hill with about 50 miles on his Cat 400i and the rear axle broke off inside the diff. Warrenty covered the axle. I personally think that Arctic-cat should make a stronger axle, for the rear axle anyway. The front axles are the same as the rears.

Warranty will cover it, but its a shame. Ive put 1000 miles on bikes with 28s and lift and never broke a shaft.

BigCat - I'm running lift and 28 Laws but I never had time to even get hard on the gas. It snapped off inside the inner CV next to the rear diff, the cage did not break. There has to be a defect of some kind in the Cat shafts to break that easy.

I think that all the people who run a lift should get them off the bike as soon as possible.A while back highlifter had a lift on theirs and they to broke a axle,,,the angle is just to sharp.P.S. do not tell your dealer that you had a lift on it,, A.C may not cover it --- to many are getting busted.Dont give up on the bike ,it is a keeper just get the lift off. Also keep the rubber side down

I will be getting Gorilla to make some for mine soon. They need to be a little longer so we can run the lift.

I've broken the left and the right rear so far. About 200 miles on it. Lift and 28" Laws. The first one twisted the axle at the right inner, about a 1/2 inch from the CV Joint. The second was the splined shaft on the left inner, inside the diff housing. Broke off just inside the diff.

I was looking at the shaft on the workbench a few minutes ago (it's back together sitting in my vice) and noticed the working angle of the upper and lower CV's is different. I don't think the upper can operate at the angle that the lift puts on it. I think that's why it's stressing the parts around it so much.

I also talked to High Lifter today and they said they have heard alot!!!! of complaints about the Arctic Cat's breaking CV's. I wonder if anyone is breaking them without the lift???????
