if i were to put in a 200X cam in my 84 200S, would that work out ok?
and if i did this, what other mods would i have to do?
does anyone know where i can find some aftermarket parts for my 200S?

The cam from the '83-'85X is a drop in camshaft for that engine. The '86-'87 X will not work.

Everything you can do to a '83-'85 200X can be done to yours. They share the same topend and the guys who do the stroker kits on the X crank can do the same with the ones from your model.

The pocket book is the limit.

I have a little over $1600 in my 244 stroker engine..........and I haven't even gotten to the porting part of it......LOL

If you go with the X cam, go with the XR carb and intake....heck, you could use the XR cam if you wanted to. It's a bit more high strung than the X cam for most guys, but may be what you are looking for. Don't even fool with either until you get a good exhaust. Cobra still makes a megaphone exhaust for these that have a huge header pipe and if you want to keep the stock muffler....the header will work with that as well.

If you shop right, you should be able to get a new cam, carb, intake, and exhaust for around $350

Don't forget about the piston while you are in there. Wiseco makes a 10.25:1 and a 12:1 comp ratio piston kit and offers the 12:1 up to a size 67mm...........which puts your engine size at a true 204cc.....with the stock crankshaft.

Stroker cranks can be had from Powroll. That's where I have all my stroke work done. To do it right the first time, it costs a bit more, but is worth the insurance. I always have them add a NEW rod, crank bearings, and rod bearings, plus a balance procedure. It runs $400.00

They use the "shrunken rod" procedure which is tough to explain, but i can if you want to know how it's done. If you feel your rod and crank are in great shape and just want the stroke changed, it runs about $250 unless they have gone up in the last few months.
