Default ATC 200 Idol Problem

Sounds like your needle jet\jet needle is worn. Use to replace them all the time on 185\200 ATC's. The hole in the needle jet gets too big from the needle sliding up and down in it and on these older machines the parts were brass so it happened easily. The symptoms were as you described. Other symptoms were plug fouling, inconsistent idling, and general rich running. After replacing the parts, it makes them a bit cold blooded, the choke becomes a necessary item, but they run excellent after warming up. If you order an aftermarket "carb kit" you probably won't get the parts you need. They are available from Honda as a kit called the needle jet set. Includes the two previous mentioned parts, the needle clip, and the retainer that holds the needle in the slide.
