Leaking tank: UPDATE
#1
"The gas tank on my '82 atc 200 has taken to leaking. The leak is up under the rear mounting bracket and I really don't see anyway to get to it to repair. What other tanks from other models would fit this unit? Your responses will be appreciated."
What I ended up doing was using some P11 from the local hardware store. It is a putty type of epoxy. Given that I couldn't get to the source of the leak under the rear mount on the tank, I put it on thick all around the mount and filled in rather deeply in the wider gaps. Been about a week with no sign of leaks. Takes about 24 hours to set up completely.
Thanks for everyone's input!

i had a 200x with the same problem from the mount, this is what i did i put cylicone on it, i mean lots of it a solved the problem, then i bought another non leaking great condishion tank and swapped it on..... and the leaky one i threw it against the wall and ran over it with my 200x and my truck....

When I rebuilt my 200X, I stripped the tank to repaint it and while wire brushing some surface rust on the bottom of the tank and discovered a bunch of pin holes.
I bought some of the KLEEM tank sealer from DENNISKIRK and it worked great.
It comes with an etching solution, cleaner and sealer. I also had some muratic acid that I used in the tank first, it cleans rusty metal very well but do not breathe the fumes and if you get it on your skin a layer of skin will peel and flake off in a couple days! Buy some neoprene gloves often used when stripping furniture.

my 84 GPZ tank had a good leak at the spot weld holding the mounting bracket under the tank (high stress area next to the seat)
i took it to a radiator shop back in 1993 and they sealed it up with solder
hasn't leaked since
