Well I used a 350X thumb throttle. It takes some engineering but it's not too bad. Also had to grind off the word HONDA on top of the throttle. I tried using the twist for a bit and really wanted to make it happen. Grew up using a thumb throttle and that's what I'm sticking with. You might be able to see it in my pics but it's no close up.

It sounds like you got a really good deal. It always helps when you can work on them yourself. I paid a wee bit more than you but it's all about how bad you want it. I got a fair deal and couldn't be happier. It runs like a mother and it's nice to show up to a riding area and everybody is like WTF is that? I've had my 350X since '85 and bought it new and still runs like it did back in the day. Did you paint yours or was it like that when you got it?

Yeah it relly helps when ya can work on it your self i put a new axel on, new radiator, New carb (will have that done in about 4 days waiting to get it), and fixed an oil leak from the drain hole...And i pained it my self i thoulght it would look good but i used 1$ store paint im going to get some good rustolium soon so i can get it to origional pink color. But the thing screams It wasint use much back in its day cause some one had it and kept it in the garage for Many years and the my neighbor lary hes about 60years old crashed itinto a pickup truck and then it hit a tree but It came outa that with only a bent axel...I was wondering WHY WAS A 60 Year old on a TECATE? i found it funny but he was on some heavy meds when i bought it..HA it was great ..but that tecates a trooper..how do you like yours i know that the 86, model was alot better than my 85 but i like my 85 cause the fat front tire. Its great to know someone with a tecate now days Were a dying breed brother.
