I want to get serious with my trike project. I want to get the horse power in the high 40's low 50's. I'm willing to spend alittle coin here but want to keep it reasonable. Maybe $1500 for the engine alone. What do you guys suggest here? I plan to beef up the clutch, wil the rest of the stock tranny hold? I just want this bike to go fast in a straight line and look really good sittin on the trailer. I love her, can't let her go so it's time to get this goin. Thanks for any help.

if you want a hi powerd trike i would mod it ans try 2 get a 450 2 stroke dirt bike motor and build her from there and auto clutch is way better on my 450r makes trail riding way easier , and just a cruse bike 2 its only about 400 bucks and u can still do manul for the extra rpm (thas for the 450r) on easy way 2 make her have more power is take the lid of the air cleaner and i cut some fome off and for a nice sounding trike put a cobra muffler make her sound like a drag car

Thanks for replying Anthony. Nobody else??? Well this is pretty sad. I guess I'll figure it out myself.

Everything you need to make your 250R pretty and fast. Go to Rockymountain ATV for plastics.

I also have a 85. It is being rebuilt now. It is a work in progress. I am slowly replacing old parts with new ones while keeping it running so I can still ride it. I've been doing alot of research on parts for these babies.

Dude the only way you can bump the compression up on a 2-stroke is to run a thinner head gasket....
