Now those would be screamin fast and still ridable. I mean I've seen a trike with the cr500 motor with probably 15k in in all together but it was nothing more than a drag bike. Far too long to ride recreationally. Now if they would do what you just mentioned and put the trx450 or YFZ motor in one straight from the factory there would be nothing out there stock that could touch it.

I've spent many hours on 2, 3 and 4 wheelers. They all obviously handle differently and are to be driven differently. I've crashed on all 3 and most were my fault of course. It's inevitable that no matter which you are on, a crash or two is going to happen. You can wreck on a 4 wheeler just as fast as you can a 3-wheeler. I get tired of hearing people saying 3 wheelers are more dangerous. You have to learn to ride a 4 wheeler just as you do a 3 wheeler. I personally don't like riding 4 wheelers that much. They feel awkward to me but to each his own. Heck, we could go all day with comparisons of the 2. Long live the 3 wheeler!!

Right on Shocker! Well said and I agree!!! In fact, the following is a paste from my bio - "My recommendation to folks that think the 3-design is dangerous... STAY OFF! YOU ARE THE REASON WE DO NOT HAVE NEW ONES!! After all, you would never get to the point of having her in a full slide coming out of a turn full throttle with the front end off the ground in full comfort of control!"

I have a theory as to why so many people hurt themselves on three wheelers. Many times with I head out to the dunes my friends who come with me dont have bikes to ride so I let them cruise around on my EX. Most of them do pretty well with the occasional mishap. 4 wheelers are pretty easy to ride even if you have never been on one before. Assuming you respect the power, the terrain and most importantly use common sense there shouldn't be a problem. Three wheelers on the other hand like many of you have already mentioned require practice and are less "idiot proof" in their handleing. I would never let my inexperienced friends ride even my modestly powered 200x let alone if I had a 250r or 350x. I bet in the past that has been a problem. You know how it is when your friends ask over and over to ride your bike you start feeling bad for the poor saps and let them have a spin after a lenthy lecture on the do's and dont's. No matter what you tell someone about a trike they will not get it right unitl they have some seat time on the thing. I'd be willing to bet this has been a huge problem in the past. That and alcohol of course

Yeah, the funniest thing when people first ride a three wheeler is that for some reason they are compelled to put their foot down if they turn wrong and it starts to tip. Even funnier, then the next reaction when they start to run over their leg, is to give it more gas till they run them selves off of the bike. It is a lesson that only needs to be learned once and every three-wheeler rider did it on there first real ride. However, once you truly master the three-wheeler, I think there is no greater ride (for me) especially in the sand dunes. And I have tried every type of quad and configurations of quad (longer arms. etc) and still prefer my old ATC. The best part is my bike just turned 20 and while I have extensive mod's, it is consistently faster at the hill races than the new bikes. However, there is always someone with your number!

The stuff about 3 wheelers being so dangerous is a load of bullplop. I rode at 3 wheeler for the first time when I was 13 years old and had never controlled anything more powerful than a ride on lawnmower. Granted the 3 wheeler (an 85 125M) didn't have much more power than the lawnmower . But I never hurt myself, flipped it, etc. I knew the rules and followed them.
