Yeah, the funniest thing when people first ride a three wheeler is that for some reason they are compelled to put their foot down if they turn wrong and it starts to tip. Even funnier, then the next reaction when they start to run over their leg, is to give it more gas till they run them selves off of the bike. It is a lesson that only needs to be learned once and every three-wheeler rider did it on there first real ride. However, once you truly master the three-wheeler, I think there is no greater ride (for me) especially in the sand dunes. And I have tried every type of quad and configurations of quad (longer arms. etc) and still prefer my old ATC. The best part is my bike just turned 20 and while I have extensive mod's, it is consistently faster at the hill races than the new bikes. However, there is always someone with your number!

Thank for the reply Motox. I was beginning to think that only California people have run themselves off of a 3-wheeler! Perhaps it is only a dirt bike to 3-wheeler transition thing or these other guys are lying about it. Either way, it is funnier than hell when you watch someone else do it! yeah. ive almost wrecked mine. went down a hill going 45mph and had to brake and turn at the bottom of the hill. brakes wouldnt stop me. throttle was stuck.....i went under a tree limb. that scared the living crap out of me. it knicked my helmet. i have a scratch on it where the limb hit. after that ive never rode as wrecklessly. but. my cousin has never done anything on his 185s. he goes around turns. and doesnt lean at all. i tell him. ur eventually gonna lose control of that thing. and its gonna go over top of you. he said yeah right. his back tires come off the ground everytime he turns. apparently he cannot learn from things that i did. or almost did. but. he has wrecked his 87 trx 200sx quite a few times. i dont know why. but to me. trikes seem just as safe. if not safer. than a quad. u cant lean off the side to prevent a quad from rolling. u can on a threewheeler.

My first roll was when I was 10. The first time I rode one. Honda 110. I had just learned to ride a motorcycle a few months before and yes I tried to put my foot down in a turn. It was also the last time I did that. Put my foot down that is, not roll, have done that quite a few times, pushing it past my limits. Luckily sand is fairly foregiving. well it seem that the 3 wheeler will never come back but from reading all these post you can tell who's had saddle time and those who missed out on a wonderful toy.dang, it would be cool if they would come back.to me i think the BIG RED was the true grit of 3 wheelers but if you wanted to get there in a hurry then the r was the way to go.
turned out to be a good post after all
