The wrong oil will burn a clutch out way to prematurely for me, and the tougher you are on them, the quicker they go. You can find appropriate oil for just a $1.50 more a quart. I can get a quite a few oil changes before needing a new clutch by avoiding the auto oils.

I got to admit that my riding isnt very hard on my YTM200 and BigReds. No manual clutch and no rear suspension kinda keeps me from beating on them. But I do go through so much water that I change my oil after every ride since it gets milky. Thats why I use 10w30 in them to lower to oil costs. And I feel the same way about my warrior as you do about your machines: it deserves the best. Ho yeah and the same about my gf!!

You should listen to this guy,it sounds to me like he knows what he is talking about. I am a professional auto tech for 17 yrs. and I can tell you with authority that all oils are not created equal and using the wrong oil can lead to costly repairs.

What bike do you have? To see how much oil you need check a manual or call your local dealer. My 85 250R has a screw on the side of the case I remove. I put oil in the fill hole until it comes out of that screw hole. It is about 650ml, I believe. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. I have done it like this forever and haven't fried a bottom end yet, but it doesn't mean I'm right.
I was wrong, the weep hole on the side means you have at least 350ml. However you should run 650ml, but run 80-85wt gear oil. I am a firm believer in running the proper oil for the application.
