you should use a torch converter setup. it will be the best bet for your set up and it will flat out FLY!!! if the motor has a clutch on it i think the golf cart should have the right kind of clutch for it if not i would spend the money to do that. like i said before you should either use a lawn mower steering system or even a car gear box.

Yeah that is what I'm gonna due. I already have a torque converter from the snowmobile. Hopefully I can get that pretty closed to finish while I'm waiting to get my new gaskets and piston in.

On another note.

Is there anything special to know about Honing a piston cylinder?

Yeah make sure you dont got in too far or out too far. My dad honed my motor and he nicked the $hit out of the cylinder wall and it smoked like a freight train. lol also i would take the crank out too if you havent already it makes it much easier. and use LOTS of lube! messy but needed.

the crankshaft that the piston and piston rod is hooked too.

oh yeah i've completely removed the top end of the engine.

Is there anything in the bottom end that needs to be replaced?

I dont know, I would just check to see if all the bearings are tight... just make sure there is nothing in the bottom of the motor that you can hit with the hone.
