Default Big Red Forks

Ok buddy of mine has a 250 Big Red...No Idea what year it is but the forks are broken and can't be fixed.... He can get a set of 250SX front forks and was wondering if they will work. Any info will be great....thanks

Default Big Red Forks

I have an '85 250 big red and the forks are offset to accept the large front tire. If I'm not mistaken the sx forks are straight and narrow. The sx's may bolt up but you couldn't put the larger front tire the big reds traditionally have on them. My 250 has 12" rims and I recently bought new tires (also 12") The thing is they are 12" where they attach to the rim but they are14 .25" at the widest point. I have to inflate the front tire to about 25 psi to get it narrow enough to fit between the front forks. Low air pressure helps smooth the ride on these older atc's so this sorta screwed me up. I couldn't return them so I'm stuck. That's a little off the subject but may be helpful if changes forks and wheel and has to buy a new tire.
