Default TRI-Z not starting. Any help appreciated.

My Tri-z was running great about a week ago. I mean 70 mph plus. I went to fire it up yesterday and it wouldn't start. I changed the plug. Made sure gas was flowing into the carb. I even poured a little gas into the cylinder and kicked it over. NADA!!! I don't think I'm getting any spark. I can't really check though to make sure. I have to hold it against something metal and kickstart it. No electric start. Is there any other way for me to check what could be the problem. Is there an easier way to check for spark?? Thanks

If you cant find a place to put the spark plug, get someone to hold it or to kick it, to see spark. Its an important first step. You can save lots of time and effort...just by know whether or not you have spark. It could be as simple as the kill switch is on. If you have spark...then compression check is next.
