200ES carb adjusting help needed
I recently put a brand new carb on my ES and I'm having a heck of a time getting it set right. I have the main needle at the second slot...is this correct for the midwest? It boggs down really bad when touch the throttle. I'm assuming it's an adjustment problem. I've pulled the carb 3x's now to check for blockages...none found. I can't seem to work the kinks out of this. Any help would be appreciated.
Do I have this right: The pilot screw is on the bottom of the carb and the air screw is on the side? If so, does anyone know the proper setting for these? Is it from bottom, back it out 1.5 turns? Would that be for both of them?
Thanks in advance

200ES carb adjusting help needed
I have had the same issue with several of the older machines I have worked on for both myself and buddys rides
It sounds like your adjustments are close
I would look at the Jet size sounds like the bike is lean
If it starts fine and idles good but boggs when throttle opened I would say engine is Lean (needs more fuel) Jet up
If idles ok throttles fair to about 1/4 throttle but just boggs any thing above it is rich ( needs les fuel) jet down
Also look at plug (suggest install new) run and then check this will tell allot
If rich it will be black sooty
If lean it will be white
If correct Tan
I have also noticed The newer fuels seem to make a difference
I run racing fuel in all of my bikes Mixed about 50/50 ATV's happy and run much better
Thanks ray
