when i touch the plug wire on the motor i get spark,put the plug in and try it nothin. good plug, i have by-passed the kill swith in the headlight. maybe i did it wrong? maybe a ground im missing? any help or ideas welcome

If you are definately getting fire through the plug cap when grounded,..but not fire at the plug when the plug is grounded at the same location, then the plug,....or the plug cap is bad. But I would be more inclined to say that you just have a bad plug...new or not.
If you are getting fire at the end of the plug wire at all, with or without a plug or plug cap, then your problem is not in the wiring of your kill switch.
