wont down shift?

Default wont down shift?

HI first post I got me a new toy it is a 81 KAWASAKI klt 200 in grate shape for free YES for free I work at a land fill.. it runs grate but it wont down shift I think it has a dent shift fork it just keeps going down with out shifting gears but up shifting if I get it back to 1 is fine, to get it in to 1 I have to turn it off and rock it Intel it works its way back to 1 what do you all think am I right or is it something I have not thought of ?

I looked at the shift forks and shift lever it all looks good but it still wont down shift? any help?

Those trikes were notorious for bad tranny problems,..mainly the shift drum AND the forks. Give it another go over. Also, you didnt mention the drum itself...look for cracks there. As for the shift forks being bent, without new ones side by side they are hard to spot. You check the operation of each fork during disassembly to find which one is the problem.
I'm not saying that your problem is indeed any of the above, but they are the majority of the time on that model.
