just got an 84 200es about 3 weeks ago. ran fine when i looked at and brought home. about 2 weeks ago it stopped on me when parked, would not restart until i fiddled with the ignition switch for a bit. worked ok for a couple days, now will not start at all. replaced ignition switch, nothing. turn on the key and on/off switch headlight works, reverse/neutral light work but will not fire. does nothing, not even a cough. (machine is dead, just like hitting start button with switches off) any quirks anyone knows of short of pulling the entire wiring harness apart?
did not try the pull start as i have fuel tank and several other parts off due to mucking about with the wiring.

also anyone know where the oil drain plug is? would like to change oil but did not see a drain plug.

 

i have what i thought was a 185s but turned out to be a 200 engine in a 185s frame . i had intermitten no spark issues for a while then all of a sudden nothing , i replaced the coil ,wiring harness and spark plug wire with no results then i replaced the cdi box the little black box hooked to the frame under the tank and bingo that was the culprit sparks like a champ now . and was a very cheap fix thanks to ebay brand new there like $25 . good luck ...

 

thanks for the info. one of my brothers friends that is a pretty decent bike mech is going to take a peek at. 25 bucks for the cdi isnt bad, if im lucky that is all it will be!
