Default spark plug problem

I got a 1985 200m, and the plug went so i went to the store and bought a ngk spark plug. i screwed it in, got it started and when it started goin it started spittin and sputtering and eventually just shut off, maybe lasted 10 minutes. my friend got a denso plug out of his 250sx and it was all rusty and maybe 5 years old, and i put it in my trike and it ran like a charm. any ideas on whats wrong?, maybe wrong type of spark plug, anyone know the number of the plug?, the ngk one was dr8es-l. Thank you.

Default spark plug problem

I had a problem with plugs fouling on my 84 200M. I typically ride the bike for only a minute or so at a time up at the trailer park as a means of transportation down to the boat slip so the bike never gets a chance to warm up. I would say that in the course of the summer I was going through 8 to 10 plugs due to fouling. If I went on a long ride the plug would never foul. A forum member from Newfoundland suggested I switch from the NGK DR8ES-L (that I had always used) to the Champion equivalent, and a year and a half later (touch wood) I am still using the original Champion plug that I installed. Plugs are cheap, give the Champion a try.

I have a 1983 200e and I was running NGK plugs in it and had to cahnge them about everytime I rode. I switched to an Autolie 4164 and haven't had to touch it yet. I think Honda atv's do not like the NGK plugs. I know someone who had a 25or and could not run a NGK in that either.
