Fork Oil, Tranny Oil, & Gas/Oil Mixture??
#1
Hello all. I am about a week away from firing up my newly restored atc that I bought a yr ago and am now just completing. The engine had newer tranny gears installed, piston, and connecting rod installed. I want to make sure all my fluids are the correct ones. So anyone w/ info on what they use would be great!! I have a clymer book but not all the info is in there. Thanks so much

Well I am not real familiar with the 84 I will tell you what I know. When I rebuilt my 350x forks it called for atf so I used synthetic atf ( I like synthetic oils). But I believe you can use thicker fork oil depending on how you want your forks to work ( speed). Just measure amounts exactly. My 250r's tranny has 10w 40 motor oil in it, If you want to switch to synthetic AFTER breaking in new tranny parts on regular oil, Make sure it is an oil made for use with wet clutches or it can cause clutch slippage. Now for ratios, Youve seen my current post debating this issue, I would break your new parts in on some regular oil @ the 20:1 ratio. After breaking in theres many oils and options, Im not sure even after years if I have that figured out for the best yet. Oh yeah I got screwed on an atc on ebay also!
