It sounds like your carb is messed up and needs cleaned
I would look at the spark plug and check the color
or watch the exhaust while running is there a blackish cloud

I would also check when engine stops after running if you have spark

These will give you some type direction to go and figure out issue
what year is 200X
Thanks
Ray

Thanks for the help. It is a 1984 200x. It does have a slight appearance of black smoke, but not all the time.

I would then start with the basics
Check valve adjust timing chain adjust
Check timing
You could confirm if good strong spark should be Blue
You could check ALL ignition connections clean
Then if still issue clean carb
Thanks

So this was just repaired?
You Could have a small piece of dirt or Dubris in the seat
If the bike sits with the fuel valve on and engine not running does fuel run out
Also have you talked to the people at the shop that just worked on bike for their input
Possibly they missed something

It does not leak gas. When we got it back he told me that he did the best he could, and that the middle part of the srark plug would stay clean but the only part that gets slightly fouled is the outer part. (before they worked on the carb the problem was that the spark plug fouled in about 20 min of driving time.

It may be time to freshup the top end
As there is a point all engines need top end done
Not a major deal
Usually disassemble top end see what is needed
If you are lucky it may just need rings and valve seals
Gaskets
Not to much then should be trouble free
Thanks
