Default another carb question

Hello,

I have a 1983 atc-185s. I need to adjust the carb. I have taken the carb apart and cleaned all jets etc. I need a procrdure on how to adust the settings. I do not know the terms so I will describe what I need. There are 2 adjustment screws on the outside of the carb I can see. One is on the bottom of the carb, right next to the bowl and the other is on the side of the carb itself. What are the starting points of adjustment for each of these screws. Also, does anything need to be adjusted inside of the carb. When I cleaned the carb, I removed all of the jets from inside the bowl, and if I remember correctly they, before I removed them, were all tight so thats the way I returned them, is that correct? Any and all info will be appreciated. Please be detailed with your instructions as I do not know the individual names for each of the adjustment screws etc.

Thanks!

ok i have a 82atc185s to and i have to rebuild the carb.all the jets on the inside should be tight enough so that they wont move when the engine starts.and the 2 screws on the outside are the one you need to tune.the one at the bottom is the one that controls the air mixture and the one on the side is the one that controls the the idle.hope this helps

Thanks, All running fine now, the idle is a bit low and I cant seem to adjust but it is running and goes down the trail just fine. Not bad for a 25 year old wheeler.

Adjust the idle speed with the throttle stop screw on the side of the carb (its the one with the spring between it). If this doesn't work then try adjusting the throttle cable tensioner located on the very top of carb under the gas tank, you will need to remove the black sealer. Adjust the throttle tension so that there is little freeplay. You can remove the airfilter and visually inspect the throttle valve while hooked up.

Hope this helps.
