Default 85 Tecate

I have an 85 tecate and i am having spark issues, changed my stator, got spark, took her for a jazz around the yard, died, again no spark, tested the stator again, still good, tested the coil, good, tested the CDI ignition box, didnt have anything, not sure if i tested it correcly or not,but a new CDI box new is $400, so before i go and buy a new one does anyone have any ideas i could try? Thanks

Do you have a manual?

Did you check all the wires for frayed or loose or corroded connections first?

yes i checked all of that, the wireing is fairly new, replaced year and a half ago, i do have a manual but its for a tecate 4, i have been over the bike looking for anything else, hoping its not the CDI, but i think thats what it is, i even have a second CDI box that came with the bike when i bought it, but tests nothing at all either!

yeah us tecate guys are 100% no dout about it SOL when it comes to spark issues.. its a little to expensive to do the old trial and error method....

I told you i was gonna let you know when i figured anyuthin out.... I have spark now, well i have a good blue fast flickering spark now.... All i did was took off my flywheel cleaned the stator parts with sandpaper and contact cleaner/brake cleaner and blew it out the best i could with the compressor... and the spark has improved by 75% or so... before this i was getting a weak spark and then all the sudden i couldnt even see a spark.. so ide give it a try before i spent money on those ridiculously priced cdi boxes..... By ther way ide check e bay theres alot of parts up there for spark and seen some cdi's for i tyhink 99 or 125, somethin like that.....Good luck to yah man
