83 atc200e big red clutch slipping
#1
Which clutch is bad if: when I am riding the atc it will not stop unless i pull it out of gear or kill the engine. Also, it slips when I put it under a hard load in higher gears.
thanks for any help

I've lowered the idle as low as it will go w/o killing the engine (lower idle than my other big red) and it still will stall the engine when its put into gear. Is there anything else that would be stuck or locked up inside? When I got this 3 wheeler (about 10 years ago) it had sat for a couple years so I don't know if that could cause something.

sounds like your shifter is not releasing tension on the friction clutches. just from having mine apart in the last few days, i can say that you might try to turn in the 14mm locknut on the right side of the case, its ok if the whole nut/stud spins, mine was rusted together..... but that will tighten the clutch release lever, allowing you to release the clutch when you lift up on the shifter.... you should probaly be able to feel it release(like resistance when pulling up the shifter)... im trying to figure out whether its the centr clutch or the friction clutches slipping on mine too

I think its the clutch on the right side of the engine..when u take off the side case, its a darker color.. not the one next to it..it has dicks into it.. i've replaced these numerous time... and its the only clutch that i have ever needed to replace...
