I had posted a while back about rebuilding the clutch in a 2505, and someone said to put in CR500 springs. I am getting ready to do this and was just wondering if all CR500 springs are the same, or there is a specific year I should use?

thnx

I don't think it matters all that much. The CR500 springs will be heavier for any year.

Personally, I went to Home Depot and bought 5 small flat washers (about 3/16 thick) and put them between the spring and bolt. They cost 2 cents each. I'm sure that if they've worked on both my bikes for the past few years, that they'll work on yours. Also, if you are having clutch slipping problems, make sure that it isn't your basket. I've noticed that especially on the 85 models, the basket gets grooved badly and it will hold your plates apart. You can usually file them down and get a few more years out of them.

I'm not a butcher when it comes to my bike, but I do know a couple tricks to help save some money when you don't have to spend it. These things I mention will work.
