Front end mod on ATC250sx?

I BELIEVE IF YOU GOT THE WHOLE FORK AND TRIPLE TREE ASSEMBLY THAT IT WOULD FIT ON THE 250SX. AS FOR PARTS AND ACC. DENNIS KIRK HAS QUITE A BITE FOR ATC'S. DENNISKIRK.COM. I HAVE CHANGED FRONT ENDS AND TRIPLE TREES ON 250R AND 200X BIKES AND THEY FIT, ALL BEARINGS ARE THE SAME, IT SHOULD WORK, THE ONLY THING IS THE TURN STOPS MIGHT BE DIFFERENT AND THE FORKS WOULD HIT THE TANK.

Threex2 is correct. I used to have a 86 250sx and I installed a 85 200x front end on it. All the front end parts from the 200x were used including triple clamps. I actually had to grind the steering stops on the sx frame to allow it to turn sharp enough.
Make sure to check out my web site. We just got finished doing some restoring and hop up work on my brother's 1985 250sx.
Thanks
Brad

Thanks guys. I knew that the idea would probably work. Now I need to find a set of "complete" front forks from one of those trikes.
Brad, I checked out your site. Good job on the SX. I am floored by the engine mods that you did to the trike. I need to get hooked up with the same modification. Are there anymore of those engine kits left? Looking at the photos it looks like the rear swing arm is not the original, True?
What about carburator mods? Size? I can tell that you put a better (bigger?) exhaust system on the trike. Seems that a larger carburator would be needed also.
Do you plan on continuing the project or is that the end?

valerius,
Thanks for the comments. I don't know if there are any of the 300 kits still available for the 250 motor. We used the stock carb but it is rejetted. The exhaust is a DG. The rear swingarm is stock although it may look aftermarket because we repainted it.
I must admit adding about 50cc's to the motor really did something. I mean its power you can feel. We haven't been able to really open it up yet because of trying to break it in, but the torque seems to be awesome. The old bike can easily break the tires loose in second or third gear.
There are a few cosmetic details left but for the most part the project is finished.
Thanks

Hey its great to know im not the only one in this world that that is tryin to improve on this good bike. I was wondering if anyone haas ever considered on improving on the breaking system? I love my bike since i got a set of blackwaters on the rear of my bike. I simply think the breaks suck on this machine. Ive been thinkin of tryin to see if i could fab a disc on the rear. Any ideas?

Robh,
I have thought of this same conversion before. The biggest problem I saw with installing a disc on the right side of the axle was that there would be no seal on the right side of the axle because the seal is located in the brake drum. Although the 85 and 86 rear brakes were different. I prefer the 86 stock rear brake over the 85's.
