CAN i race on a raptor?
good point,
I have seen a couple rap's and she's at the local tracks. The times I have
seen them race, they are fast machines but need a few adjustments to make
them handle better. There was a guy at our local track with a really pimped
out banshee(only engine mods and exhaust). Although he had a quick bike,
everything on the bike(axle, suspension, a-arms, etc) were stock. he got completely killed in the cornering. There was a rap there also and a 400EX in that class that were all beat extremely badly by a 450EX they had there,
who had a sway bar, elka suspension, aftermarket axle, a-arms etc. He killed
everyone by far because of how good he could the bike could handle around corners. The rap will keep up with all the machines there on straights and stuff, it's just cornering that needs to be adjusted IMO

The Raptor races MX very well although some will tell you that it doesn't. The class you race depends on what classes they offer. I have seen where they offer beginner, novice, intermediate etc. and you race by experience and in a cc range like 200-399 or 400 and up. Other places go strictly by cc in which case you will have to race the open class along with all the guys that race 250R's and 450's. No matter what class you race in you're going to have fun, maybe pass a guy or two and maybe even get a trophy.
To race the Raptor it's best to widen it so it corners better. You can use wheele spacers but as you get faster you risk breaking an axle or a-arm. But then you will be forced to get wider a-arms or axle anyway.
