I wouldn't judge the cross country races to quickly. Unless you have actually ridden some real cross ****ry races(GNCC, Mid South, Mid Atlantic)I don't see how you can draw this conclusion. I know there is a large geographical distance that prevents most peole from being able to ride both types. There are several of the top GNCC guys that have been traveling out west in the last couple of years to compete in the desert Score series and Baja. An guess what, they usually finish in the top two. Not bad for people who ride such a weak type of racing. By the way, if you ask them what they think they will tell you they think the desert races are easier.

cross country races are weak!!!! desert races such as Vegas to Reno are what racing is all about
