now the question is if i do go what atv to use. the lakota which i am used to riding and feel more comfortable on or the quadsport which i have not ridden that much but it has much better throttle respones and pulls harder and faster than the lakota and there is the weight diffrence with me on the lakota it is 625 pounds and with me on the quadsport it is 477 big diffrence but i am taking the quadsport to the dunes and will be riding alot of whoops so maybe i will get used to the ligt weight and twist throttle.

they are advertising a utility class, but i don't know what thier definitions/rules are for it.(basic definitions are usually auto trans & racks.) see the flyer here

since it's both on the schedule & the flyer, i'm sure riders will show... if you know 2 personally, there's bound to be more planning on going.... i hope the guys that rode utility at the quad squad ATV GP and the 4 hour team race go... they were some fast guys

newduck, i think you already answered your own question. on one hand riding a machine you're comfortable on is good, but a lighter machine will cause less fatigue... this is an endurance race and not at all in a straight line, they tend to throw in lots of turns, some can be very technical.... 45 minutes of it will make you very tired, some classes will run almost 90 minutes. everyone on the track wants to trophy, so to keep your place you gotta push hard for it... but at the same time, you need to be able to relax - being tense will take more out of you than anything else.
