I dont know about with Quads. I have heard it was 417, but if it has changed, I wouldnt know.
I do know that the YZ 426 bike can run with the 250's for the bikes, so its only fair that they should allow it for quads. But they dont, as far as I know.
Try the AMA webpage, they may have it on there.

I just talked with the guy from Sparks and he said that they are set to allow 440s in the AMA 250 2 stroke. He said that we should wait about 2 weeks to make sure it is completely official.
I guess he may end up building me a 440 so that may end up even better. Well, guys until the AMA makes a for sure judgement this is how it is.

Are you talking about a 350 4-stroke or 2-stroke?
With a 4-stroke its cause they have a seperate class for ones up to 350. If its a 2-stroke cuase a 350 2 stroke makes way more power than a 250 2-stroke, or a 400 4-stroke.
2-strokes make roughly twice the HP for the same engine size as a 4-stroke. Thats why!
I know if I had a 350 4-stroke, I wouldnt wanna run with the guys with 250rs.

That would be nice, but unfortunately in many cases there aren't enough riders to warrant separating those classes up. It's more fun for everyone when there is more competition.
In the larger races, they typically do separate 4 stroke's and 2 stroke's, until you start getting into the smaller pro classes, then they combine. A good rider can be competitive on either.
