Hi im 15, 5'8 andi weigh 170 pounds. I was looking for a good atv that i can do some racing with and trail riding. I was thinking about buying a used atv. The atvs i have been looking at are the 300ex, 400ex, TRX 400, trx 450, Z400, and raptor 350. I really like the raptor but I am not sure if it can keep up with its bigger more powerfull buddies like the z400 and 400 ex. Also the predator crossed my mind a few times. If anyone knows of a better atv that is good for racing and some trail riding please tell. Also if i buy it used i am looking to spend under 4k. Also i have never rode a sport atv, I currently own a Kodiak 400 and timberwolve 250.

OO Z is nice but hard to find under 4k used ive seen alot of raptor 660's for like 3000-3500, is it true that the raptors top speed is the same as the 450's. Pritty much the 450's are out of the question because no electric start and no reverse, plus expensive. Ive narrowed down to Raptor 600 Z and 400 ex. Which has highest top speed, also i want a low maintance quad. Also do any of them come with a meter for RPM(sry forgot what its called)

 

OO nm ive found that Z's run in same price range as raptor. I suppose the raptor has more top speed and acceleration then Z but Z handels better is this correct. And what need less maintance(bad spelling).

 

A Z-400 would be perfect cause you got the power and you can go trail riding with it. My uncle has one and he was happy with it in the trails compared to the raptor.

 

Acceleration wise, the z is actually alittle faster until you get to about 4th gear. It isnt by much, maybe 2 feet, top speed the raptor beats it but on the track and stuff the z would take it because the raptor sits to high and I don't like how long the gears are. Almost everything about the raptor is bad for racing compared to the z. Obviously you have already seen you can get a used z for the 3000-3500 price range so what else is there to say....

 

THE Z HAS MORE ACC. BUT YEAH THE RAPOR HAS MORE TOP SPEED AT 75MPH STOCK

 

I would say the Z-400 b/c of the power and would make a great trail riding bike.
