Default new to quads, help?

i am currently getting into the glamis thing, i have friends that are tlking me into it....lol

part of me wants to build something wild and fast, i have a couple of street engines from my dragbikes in the garage, but most likely i will find a clean older quad. or placing my cr500 engine in a quadsport i have in the garage, but don't know if a iwant the hassles of full custom swap.

banshee or quadzilla, can they still run fairly competetive in a straight line with the new 450's.....or the raptors?

if not i will probably find a clean 250 two stroke and add nitrous oxide.

all my buddies know i race bikes, so i will pretty much have a target on my back from the get go.....

I haven't been on a Zilla in years, but the newer 450/Raptor/Outlaw are faster than the Banshee; stock for stock. The nice thing is that making power on a shee is relatively cheap, and big power gains can be easily achieved. If I had the knowledge and the parts lying around, I would first put them together and see what I have. If I wasn't satisfied, I buy a Banshee. Living in CA there are a lot of dune Shee's around (I've seen some for sale on bansheehq.com), so you could pick one up that's modified and work from there, or buy one in stock form and add on to it yourself.

400ex +yz or crf motor = fast. You will fly and their is not a factory quad out that can keep up with them with out putting money into their motors.

If you are building a Drag bike put whatever you want in a Drag frame with all go fast stuff on it. Hill shooting K&T out or Dennis Kurt for motor.

If you want a quad to dune in with some power hard to beat a Banshee, cheap to build.

If you want a conversation piece that can keep up with everyone else- Cannondale pickone up for around $3,000 and $1,500 added will have to a reliable motor to keep up with everything else if not beat them.

In a straight line, the shee is king and will be for a long time. The LT500 has never been king of anything that I know of.
The 450's are easyer to ride (no clutch fanning) and good machines (well cept for the yamahahaha). LOL
The TRX and the LTR would be the machines to buy IMO.
Nitrous.. If just sand dragging maybe. A 250R with a 310 or 330 kit will rock.
I can't wait to go to Glamis again!

I have a zilla and I've beat the 660 raptor, banshee,YFZ and the 450r.I havent raced the other 450s or the 700 raptor yet.But if you are wanting to get an atv to drag race I would get the banshee. You can find alot more aftermarket stuff for them than you can find for the zilla. And believe me you can make a banshee fly alot cheaper than any 4-stroke.
