Default best quad for racing

I was wondering what is the best quad for racing. I am 16, 5'10" about 150 lbs. I currently have a 2000 yamaha warrior 350, but i don't think that it would be very good for racing on a motocross track, or even gncc type tracks. So, whats the best overall quad. Thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated.

from what ive read is some mags they same the ltr450 is the best track quad right now because it is the widest with the most suspestion. btw it runs i think like 10.6 inches in the back and about the same in the rear. where the other 450s run like 9.6 for the yfz 9.2 for the trx and i think like 8.7 for the kawi. all of them run about 10.5 inches of travel in the back.

ktm 525, best power to weight ratio (0.143hp/lb i think) and if you want to race in actual leagues or circuits, then you can bolt on a ktm450 cylinder and head- they are the exact same engines except for the fact that the 525 has a 6mm bigger bore

Currently, the LTr (Zuki) is the closest to racing out of the box (for the reasons mentioned above). For the rookie racer, width isn't all that important. The LTR is too wide for the woods in general.
The Kawasaki is getting raves. If you want reverse, this is your machine.
This is an exciting time. New models are comming out.Last weekend I saw the Polaris 450 (KTM motor) and the Can-Am. The actuall KTM quads will be released soon. The new Arctic cat 450 looks awsome too.
If I was to go out today and buy, It's be the Can-Am 450 or the Kawasaki. When released, maybe the KTM.
Good luck on your decision.

The KTM will be bad ***. I am not a 4-stroke fan, but I'd buy a KTM made machine. Thier bikes have the best of everything out of the box.

Default best quad for racing

I rode my warrior at a mx track in rocky hill, connecticut on monday. My warrior was not set up for that type of riding at all, i could only get about 3 or 4 feet high and travel about 20 feet in the air. This was only about half the way to the down side of the table top. I will most likely keep my warrior for trail riding, but i am currently looking for a good deal on a race quad, i would prefer to not have to drive more than 200 miles for pick up.
Also my dad is pretty cheap when it comes to spending money. He rides an 1987 xr 250, which i have to pull around for about a 1/2 mile to get it to start the first time each weekend, and he drives a toyota yaris just because it was the cheapest fuel efficient car. So less than three or four thousand would also be a requirement, which would obviously mean used. So any tips on where to look and what quad to look for would be appreciated, i have been looking at the lt-r450 and yfz 450 on ebay, but i have not found any deals near 01036.

the ktm are going to be way to much $. and who know if they are going to have problems....just becasue you can make a bike does not mean you can build a good quad...look what happend to cannondale...great bike maker but they chould not build a quad for anything. ktm 525 is going to be atleast 9000-10000 dollars and you can bet they will not be giving a break on msrp.the yfz450 is 7200 msrp but they give huge breaks on them. you can get one in the 5600-5700 dollar range and then put 3500-4500 into it and smoke that ktm. the ktm is going to be like a duciti....great bike but way to much $.

thanks for the info.... I am probably going to be looking more towards used, so is there anything that i should look out for when buying used, especially if the quad is already set up for racing, such as cracks or certain problems with certain model years. Also, are there any good sites besides ebay to find a good deal at.
Thanks,
Brian
