Default Honda 1988 TRX 250R engine work for a ATC 1986 250R

Ok so, we are starting a drag racing 250R Project, we are missing an engine. I was looking through the internet to find out that an 88 TRX 250R engine was for sale. Although we want an 85 250R engine in it, will this work in the 86. Also we were looking for companies that make extended swing arms. Any ideas?

If your 85 has the sprocket on the right side, then the 88 motor will not work.
I forget what year they went from the right side sprocket to the left side.
I do know the 86 models were on the left.

Lone Star racing for the swingarm.
