everyone in the motorcross world goes with the 250R, but i was wondering.... the tecate motor is stronger than the 250R motor, stock ot stock. 250R's advantage is in it's suspensoin, so if you used a tecate and added the a-arms, axles, shocks, and swingarm like all the 250R riders do, wouldnt it actually be a better bike on the track? i was just wondering, cause i'm getting ready to start my first season next year, and i was wondering if my tecate would be just as good. thanx

There is more to suspension than just shocks, a-arms and swingarms. You also have a big difference in the frame geometry of the two. But, for amerature racing, it is much more rider than machine, as I have learned.

Have you thought about doing a little work, and putting the tecate motor in an R frame? It seems to me that it would have the best of both worlds.

The only problem I have found with the Tecate is finding aftermarket parts, my brother had one and he sold because he could not find parts for it, and to add it did not handle to well.

Engine parts are exchangable for the KX250, frame parts are Mojave. I'm not sure, dont take it to the bank, but I know a guy with alot of KX 250 mods on his!

lonestarbanshee,

i've thought about using the 250R frame, but i'm not sure if the bottom motor mounts can work.. i've looked at the front ones and i can make new brackets for that, but the bottom frame on the tecate looks completely different, i guess i just need to get a 250R beside mine and look over them,, anyway, thanx guys

well TitanRacing2, that's what I suggest. Get someone's R beside your tecate, and see if you can make it work. It sounds good!
