a 38 A/S sounds right. Your 40.5 is hurting you on the bottom end

The 38 A/S is a good carb. I have a new Boswell carb for sale if you are interested. The Boswell makes amazing amounts of bottom and midrange power. It comes with a custom aluminum intake manifold. They are no longer available and originally sold for over $400. If you are interested email me. I will make you an amazing deal. Parts are readily available because Boswell used Mikuni TMX carbs and modified them. I also have a Mikuni TMX carb that would work as well as the A/S.
