Buying 1986 suzuki lt 250rg
Guy wants 2k for bike, trailer (2quad), nice helmet, extra paddles and mud tires, gas jug, pretty much all the stuff to just get on and go, plus is registered till '05. Bad things: He or someone bypassed electic start, and front light dont work. Seems to run good started on the 2nd kick. Just curious if this is worth it. I posted in the suzuki forum about the electric start and if its fixable. It does not seem anyone butchered the wires or anything. Oh yea all the plastic is in great shape no rips tears or broken pieces. Is this worth the cash?

Yea hi-I just got a Suz. '87 LT300EH in stock cond. w/ nice tires and a couple new parts installed for $450.-from a private owner. At KellyBlueBook.com it gives a value of aprox. $900.-So if he had included a two-hauler,helmet,active regis. plus some other junk (got manuals?),I'd probably go for it.But beware,I'm starting to find out that some parts from Suzuki are discontinued, and God only knows where I'm gonna find an aftermarket exhaust for it.On the plus side,I can still get the usual tune-up,etc. type stuff from Suz.
You'll probably find that the starter or something went bad and he doesn't want to throw any more money at it-same w/ the light. My quad has an aftermarket auto fog lamp and a lighter socket affixed to a welded-on bracket where the orig. light used to sit - but that's ok w/ me.At least I have a light to get me home. Some simple wiring continuity and voltage checks will determine if you still have the capabilities to revert to o.e. conditions. These cheap testers can be found at any auto-parts store. And more good news-the starters are available here on the net and maybe w/ your manuf. too.
