Default Honda and the suzuki atv 400's

I'm looking to purchase an ATV this Saturday, so I would appreciate advice quick.

I've looked at the Suzuki Eiger and the Honda Rancher 4x4 AT. Both look good and ride nice. What is the best one out of the two? I would like the one thats dependable, fun to climb hills for family fun, and trail riding.

I know that the Honda Rancher AT doesn't use a belt system on their transmission, like the Suzuki Eiger, is that an advantage or disadvantage?

I would just like to know the pro's and con's of both. I'm really having a struggle on deciding.

Rancher AT just got recalled. Take a look, there are a lot of posts about electronic problems with all the Honda automatics! Wouldn't have a rubber band auto either. Get a foot shift Eiger? I would buy a foot shift Honda 400 in a minute. Our foot shift Rancher 350's are excellent machines!

I love Honda, but I think the Eiger is a lot more machine for the money.

Stoddard? Didn't even get there this season. It is a bit rocky for my taste, although we did ride Wild Wash (north side of the freeway) once. My preference is Rasor/Afton Canyon, for high desert riding.

I own an eiger, one of my riding buddies recently bought a rancher. We've rode a few hundred miles together. the only advantage that the rancher has over the eiger is shift on the fly 4x4. The eiger has the rancher beat in just about every other area. Last month's dirt wheels did a comparison on them and also reached that conclusion. There's quite a price difference also, especially don't let them talk you into the gps, you can buy a nice hand held one for alot less.

Eiger all the way. There was a shootout not to long ago by one of the magazines and they also put the Eiger on top. Both are good riders but the Eiger will get you there a lot faster if that's your thing...much much sportier.
