I am buying my first quad.
Hey. I am going to be buying my first quad soon. There are a few questions i have. Should i go sport or utility. I can ride powerlines, wooded trails, fields, and sand pits. Well that is what is by my house. I was leaning more toward sport. Seeing as this is my first quad i asked friends for advice. They said hondas are reliable. So i went on over to the honda website. I am only 15 years old keep that in mind. I was thinking about a 250 ex, becuase of the shaft drive, giving me more clearence. WEll i am on a limited funds from my parents. What do you think would be best for me? HOnda? Yamaha? sport or utility. If sport or utility what kind for my age. I do have a little expierence with quading. I have driven a honda rancher with electric shift (doesnt help me at all) and a bayou(sorry about spelling) The bayou had auto clutch lik ethe 250ex, but i dont think a normal clutchi would be hard to learn.

the 250ex is not a very powerful machine and you're 15 so you're going to be getting talling and putting on more weight in the near future so I think it may be a little small.
And if funds are limited i'm guessing you won't be able to upgrade in a year or so.
I would get something you can grow into and maybe mod when you feel you want more power.
I would get a 300ex if i was you. It's full manual shift so it feels more sporty. it's better for jumping and wheelies and is a lot faster then the 250ex.
Are you planning and jumping doing wheelies that kind of stuff?

Well if i see a jump, ill hit it. Wheelies...of course . The only this with the 300ex is, ill hae to buy full skids, and i am limited because it has a sproket instead of a shaft drive, that shouldn't be a problem though.

I have a shaft driven 250ex, and Its kind of cool for putting around..my girlfriend rides it 90 percent of the time...the shaft drive is nice because it'll run forever...and the auto clutch makes it easy...if I were you, I'd wait until the 05 Honda 400ex comes out, and buy something like an 03 400...they wheelie easy, and you'll be happy with it in the long run...you'll get bored with a 300ex as you get older
