After 3 days of polishing and detailing, Odin loaded up the '99 Xplorer into the F150 and took off to get some appraisals and trade figures this morning.

I know that he wanted to test drive the 2001 AC 5 Spd. before looking at the 2001 500 HO Sportsman.

The point was that he could get the AC with a winch for $536 less than an HO. This would enable the purchase of a set of aftermarket tires and still cost less than the Sportsman.

What do you fellows think? I wonder what he will come home with?

Well if he went and test drove both I'd say a SP500...because of the true 4wd and huge ground clearance. The prices of a new Polaris SP are higher than an AC500 so he might have got the AC if money was an issue.(I think the SP's are more expensive than the AC's right?)

Rats, he didn't come home with one.

Trade in price was an issue. He really liked the Cat but the guy had too many used Polaris in stock already. Wouldn't take a trade otherwise he would have bought the AC 500 5 Spd. He said it was way faster than the 450ES Honda that he used to have.

Did he get up to Stacy Hardware..I am also doing a little research ...same quads...for future purchase..2quads would seem to be better than one and I wouldn't catch so much crap for riding 2 up with my wife.

Stacey Hardware?

No, but he went to Larson's in Cambridge and Thomas SnoSports in Ogilvie.

He said that the AC 500 5 spd. was sportier than the automatic and the Arctic Cat was a lot better than a straight axled Polaris in the Belgian block demonstration device.

So he decides to buy the AC 500 speed Sunday night, calls the dealer Monday morning. Guess what? Both quads are sold and out of inventory.

Call dealer # 2 only to learn that he sold both of his 5 speeds on Saturday.

Must be the preparation for hunting season.

I called every dealer in the Twin Cities area and only found 2 (both overpriced). It seems that Arctic Cat produced too many automatics and not enough 5 speeds. Everybody and his brother has a 2000 AutoCat that they would love to sell and some have refused to order 2001 models until the 2000s in inventory are gone. Such a deal.

Hello Sportsman HO
