the reliability of a quad lies in how it is maintained!!!! Even a polaris will be dependable if its maintained properly
(this is a joke, flame me all you no sence of humor polaris guys want but its a joke).
The trx350fe is a tough wheeler to beat. Honda also has the reputation for being the most reliable. You have to do very little maintance to these quads and they will last decades!!! Yamahas make very nice quads but the big bear is outdated when compared to the rancher. even though it was updated last year it has a ways to go. The kodiak and grizz are also nice quads but they have the belt drive tranny. I just don't trust a rubber band tranny, no matter how many positive remarks i hear about them.
ride them all and decide for YOURSELF!!!! Not because someone told you something was better than something else..
happy decision making

Excellent point! Everything out there will last if properly maintained. Then you have to ask yourself though, just how much maintenance am I willing to perform???
Finbone:
Glad to hear you decided to go with the 4x4, I think you'll be much happier with your quad this way, and it's possiblities. Since you're looking at Honda's and Yamaha's, I'd still have to recommend the 450 s/es model. Very good machines. There is the new Ruby too, though that "brand new" transmission design leaves me wondering what "bugs" need to be worked out. Maybe in a years time it will be proven for sure, just fuzzy as of yet. Who knows.
Best of luck!
Mike
