tjsnowbd, Congrats on your new Quad. Those 250ex's will run forever. Depending on what you want it for you may want to jump up to something more powerful in the future. Some of these guys didn't read your post word for word. I just bought a 2003 250ex for $2,500 almost two weeks ago. Sure I could have bought a 300 or maybe something else but like you I bought it from a friend. Someone I actually know and I know the history of my bike and how he pampered it and changed the oil way more then he needed to. I know a friend of ours bent a handle bar and a rim. That is the only time it has been damaged. I could have bought more with my money but knowing the history is much more important to me then a few horses more. Congrats again.

 

thanks for the reply sj, that was the main reason i got the quad. my dads friend was selling it and we didnt worry about him lieing about the history. and its in awsome shape. im going to try to get pics on here. took it to a friends track this last weekend and had alot of fun, plenty fast for me. later

Good choice on your quad.

We found that asking people on this forum or any other ATV forum for advice on a 1st quad to be practically useless.

Why?

Most people here are quad ENTHUSIASTS. They have been riding for a long time and don't understand why anyone would want anything less than the fastest quad available. Also, many riders in other parts of the country have more wide open areas to ride in where they can actually make use of the power of a big bore. They aren't used to the tight trails that are found in the "jungles" of Western Washington. Riding on these trails requires more rider skill than quad power.

My wife and I bought our 250's a year ago and we are still thrilled with them. Everyone told us we would get "bored" because they were only 250's. Well it's been a year and we haven't gotten bored and we will probably still be riding our 250's several years from now. We aren't interested in racing--we just cruise around.

We have ridden in the Easton area just down the road from you. There are some nice trails there. We also enjoy Tahuya (Belfair), Capital Forest (Olympia), and Evan's Creek (Wilkeson).
