What are some dual purpose quads
#1
I'm looking to buy a dual purpose quad, around the size of a 350. I know of the 350 Wolerine but would like some others that I could compare it too before I buy.
Thank you,
SB

By "dual purpose", I assume that you mean a "real" sport/utility???
The Wolverine is in a class by itself! I think this is a great concept, but Yamaha just didn't take it far enough. On the new one, they left to much utility in there, and didn't make the machine nearly light enough. This isn't a rock crawler, so they could have put plastic skid plates on it, and stuff like that to lighten it up even more. And I don't see what's sporty about an automatic transmission..........
The old Wolverine had its shortcomings too. A huge, heavy, low tech motor and an open differential are the most obvious problems. At least it has an autoclutch transmission though.
Of the full-on utilities in this displacement, the Rancher 350 is more sporty than most, but must have a Warn 424 to make it selectable 2wd/4wd. We put Holeshot ATR tires on ours, and it helps sporty it up quite a bit, but it still has utility suspension.
We have decided we would prefer riding dirt bikes to any kind of utility death trap in technical terrain, so we have been selling off our utes to get dirt bikes.
