Well I guess you are talking used, and in that case it would depend on whether or not you want reverse. The 400ex had no reverse until 2005, the Warriors always had reverse.

If reverse is not important to you, the 400ex is no doubt the better quad. It's quicker, handles much better, and has better ergonomics. It can be modded to compete with almost anything out there in the woods.

The Warrior is a good machine. Very reliable, good power, and the handling is workable on lower speed trails. The Warrior is more of a sport/cruiser than a serious sport machine. It's probably not the best racing option out there but I've seen guys race them at Hare Scrambles and XC races. I had one that was modded enough to keep up with a stock 400ex no problem.

Like I said, if you can live without reverse, get the 400ex.

The Warrior is a great trail machine, but if you're needing something for performance, I'd definately go with the EX.

i owned a warrior, and it was ok i just didnt like how it had little power, hard to wheelie with its a heavy machine but Bullet Proof, i have heard great reviews on both machines they are both excellent trail machine but since u do little drag i would def go with the 400ex even if it don't matter i believe the extra power will help you along the way its too easy to man handle warriors.

i have first hand experience with a warrior (i own one) and they are great quads, cant hurt them. it is great for what i do which is tight, technical trails but for speed and performance its just not the right quad, go with the 400
