Default power steering question?

I have a power steering question nobody can answer. New for 2007 two models have power steering, the Yamaha 660 Grizzly and the Honda 500. Are these power steering systems linked, or open to the steer axle? What I mean is what powers them and if that external power supply that does power the power steering fails can the ATV steer without the power steering? This is a serious saftey issue that if the power steering system fails while ur operating the ATV it could cause you to lose control of the ATV and you wreck and get serious injuries.

I would assume that its like a vehichle. If the power steering goes out, you will still be able to turn the wheels like a normal ATVs steering

Default power steering question?

Good question! These units are electrical, so if one is down you will be fighting a dead electric motor. That should be a lot easier than fighting the steering of a dead car.

I haven't seen anybody on the Honda forum that has one of these yet. Try the Yamaha forum. Should be an easy test for them to just unplug it and try it out..........
