SHOULD I BUY A 2003 POLARIS 700 ?

I am planning on buying a 2007 Yamaha grizzly 450. However a friend of my wife has come into a liitle of financial problems. They want to sell two polaris 2003 700's. $4500 each plus extra for a plow and winch depending on which one . According to the owner neither machine has over 250 miles on them.
My question is, is there anybody out there that has a solid opinion on the machine and possibily has the specs, how did they rate that year?
To be honest, we use a polaris 400 trail boss to bear hunt with in Minnesota and I am not impressed at all, however my buddy just bought a Yamaha 350 bruin and that machine is impressive.

dafuzz you should go to the polaris site to ask this question, I hav'nt heard alot of negative things about that yr sp, with that few miles I'd expect solid machines, i believe it is a carb 700(s) ? i don't about the price, for that much combined you could almost buy a 07 800 efi x2? just my 0.02c

i know people who have had them year 700 polaris's and well none of them have them anymore for mechanical reasons. as for the price that isn't bad and i say that because of the miles. i would check them over close cause they could have disconnected the speedo and could actually have 2500 miles on them. i personally won't buy used atv's cause i don't know how the previous owner treated them. the 450 grizz should be a great machine yami has made top quality atv's for many years, but the 450 won't have the power the 700 will of corse.

My brother-in-law likes his '04 700 twin. He has had problems with the electrical and the carbs. His dealings with Polaris down here haven't been positive. There is a huge difference between the two as I've ridden both. All of the differences are pretty obvious, the Polaris is more powerful and the Grizzly 450 steers more easily at slow speeds. The Polaris's steering lightens up (on the muddy trails at least) when you get going. I'm not sure what the HP-to-weight ratio is, but the Polaris weighs around 800lbs and is even heavier with the plow setup (the plow, including the support structure+braces, runs the length of his quad). The 450 weighs about 600 lbs. He would own nothing else, and I wouldn't own one. I kid him by putting for sale signs on it and parking it out front.

I made up my mind. I am going to the dealer this Saturday to pick up my 07 Grizzly 450. Due to the personal advise from folks here and other sites, I feel that the Griz is more up to date than the Polaris. I guess the big factor is that when I put my atv in four wheel drive, I want it to be in four wheel drive, not when it decides to do so.
