Buying a KFX 400
#1
I am fixing to buy an 03' KFX 400. I would like to kno the pros and cons of it. I have always ridden honda's and yamaha's. I know very little about kawasaki's. It has alot of aftermarket parts and I have done some checking on the price. Its a really good deal I think. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

its the same exact machine as the suzuki same everything nothing is different but the color. my friend has one the only problem he had was clutch cable problems otherwise a a good quad but you want to check for defects, so see if you can hear it run listen for irregular noises. and there are so many aftermarket things for that quad

The early 03's had problems with cracking frames. Look the frame over VERY carefully around and on the top shock mounts. Look for little cracks in the paint and any small rust lines, etc.
Also, there was a batch of early 03's that had axles that bent rather easily.
Otherwise, it should be a great machine. Good solid engine, with lots of hop up potential!

He stripped it down one winter and welded gussets in those weak spots you where talking about in the frame, then had it sandblasted and powdercoated. It has a Lonestar axle in it. It seems like a pretty good bike tho.

Sounds like the initial problems are taken care of.
Although mine is newer, they are still essentially the same. Think the carb was changed in 04, and then the piggy back shocks were also added.
No complaints on mine.
