How old is he? My son is 10 and the ds90 was not enough for him. Now he has a raptor 250. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoxOi81Ld40 Not much to see in video, was pretty much a test run before I take him to the trails. Better video to come in the near future along with some ktm 525xc action!
I don't encourage anyone to think that the raptor 250 is a kids quad as its pretty powerful for its size and you can see from the video I have the throttle screw almost all the way in.

Check out the Polaris Outlaw 90. It has great speed and the most suspension travel of the "big 4" brands. It also looks really cool. I haven't had a problem yet with mine and I see more of them around the campsites than any other.

Agree, how old and how much experience? The Honda 90 is a proven bulletproof quad. The Polaris 90 gets some pretty good reviews also.

He is 7. He drives my dad's rubicon and rancher with me on the back with it is 2nd gear. I am not wanting him to jump, race etc.... Just go with me on relaxing rides through the trails in the woods and private road in Upper Michigan. Reverse isn't a must but would be nice, being able to control top speed is good and something I won't need to take in for service!

the outlaw 90 and sportsman 90 both have reverse. get the sportsman 90 and he could carry some of his own gear, make him feel like a big boy then

HONDA! They last forever, and are as tough as nails.

My kids grew up on ours. I sold one of them to a relative and his kids are riding the tires off it. Kept the other around for guests we have that might have kids, but I think I'll hang on to it for the grandchildern some day.....

For 7 I say go with a 90 and throttle it down with the adjustment screw. Might have to order a spare break lever and bend it so that he can reach it easier. The new ds90 has wide a-arms and would probably have less time on 2 wheels. Good thing about kids quads is they hold there value pretty good. When your ready to sell it in a couple years you won't have to loose and arm and a leg on it maybe just one limb

The Honda is on the large side, so it if best for larger/older kids. Also, nice that it makes them learn to shift!
