Thats what I try to tell people, a 1300cc Harley may only have 70 hp but it produces it at 3,000 rpm, while a 600cc sport bike has 100hp but needs 12,000 rpm to produce it.
Thats torgue.
The 500 twin cylinder Outlander may have the same Horse power as a 660 single cylinder Grizzly but it will not have the same low end grunt as the big thumper.

The big bore utility quad's seem to have more torque , at least that's what the manufacturer's claim ; but you can check them all out on the net by going to the web site's of each brand quad's !
Of coruce with gearing modification's can alway's change that , but like i stated before you can find the info on stock quad's over the net ; this will give you what you need if you're shopping around for a new quad this year !
Arctic Cat's new Thunder Cat 1000 is suppose to have more torque in the Utility class quad's , but it's new and only select Dealership's have them now ; my local AC Dealer had 2 in stock and they're already gone she had 1 regular and 1 LE and she's expecting more in april may and june !
I sure like the new chassis design with only 2 inch longer wheel base , and they lowered the seat hight 5 and a half inche's ; but they're to rich for my blood and way to much power for me !
I hope they use this chassis on the 400 , 500 , 650 H1 and the 700 EFI also ; the AC Dealer told me she think's it will happen next year in 2009 or 2010 from what the Factory Rep has told her !
The 2 my Dealer had were sold the first day they got them in , and they were sold before the uncrating and the final assemble ; and were being prepped i didn't even get to see them !
The 950cc Engine would've been to much overkill for me , but i hoped to get a test drive ; but i was to late for supper on these two !
But Can Am ( B..R.P. ) , Polaris and the other Manufacturer's are sure to build one to match or beat AC ; if they're aren't already working on one right now !.......

what are fourwheelers that have a lot of torque?
Horsepower and torque have NEVER been the same thing!!! Also, those numbers are "at the crank", so that makes them even more useless (ignores things like tires, weight of the vehicle, etc., etc.).
My buddy has a Brute Force, and I would say it is a torque monster.

The chart gives a good idea. Its just when you see small cc motors with very high HP you can count that the torgue is on the down side usually especially on "smaller" Twin cylinders.
I think thats why Yamaha stays with a single cylinder on there big bore Utility ATVs.
