Default Work and Play?

Maybe so, but the Renegade is rated to tow 1300lbs vs 850lbs for the Scrambler. And the Renegade should be faster, and more powerful than the Scrambler, also has low range. But really both/either should be fine. I just thought if he likes the Outtie and Scrammy, he should at least take a look at the 'Gade.

Default Work and Play?

I have towed quite a bit with my scrambler. I do have a pipe and clutch kit so that makes a difference. If you go with the scrambler I would strongly recomend the clutch kit. It makes a whole new machine out of it. I was riding this past weekend on some intence trails and it was a blast. I ended up pulling three other guys out of the mud on there sport quads and one guy on his wolverine 4X4. I also entered into the mud bog and placed 2nd in the 4X4 class against some 700 & 800's, and then went to the moto cross track and jumped and raced with the sports. With this said I really think all around the scrambler is the most versatile. It may not be the best in any one area, but it competes in all of them. Hope this helps.

When you say a whole new machine, do you mean it feels more powerful? Faster acceleration? More wheelspin when pinning the throttle? More lowend torque?

And how did the clutch kit affect the top end/speed? Just curious, clutch kits really seem to help alot with beltdrive quads by what ppl say, seems like a good bang for the buck mod.

Thanks Krait -- I didn't even realize the Renegade could tow 1300 lbs. It's looks like a sick machine that I'm going to have to demo!

There are a few guys on these forums with the Renegade 500's. I know one guy had a Scrambler 500, traded it in for the Renegade 500, and said the 'Gade is MUCH better in every way. Not bagging the Scrammy, probably would do fine for you, but I think it needs an update. And if you want more power, the 'Gade 800r will oblige. Main downside to these is the price, also I would recommend skidplates pronto for Outlanders/Renegades. I believe you can buy a small rear rack for the 'Gades, and could probably get a metal shop to fabricate dual racks if you really need/want it.

At least check it out.

PM 08Renegade500, I believe he is the one who traded his Scrambler 500 for the Renegade 500, he might be able to give you good comparisions.
