Buying my first quad.
The only thing I do not like about the Can AM 500 is when they say...
<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>While in low range, the power rises sharply into the mid-range power curve, which makes it difficult to finesse in technical situations</end quote></div>
It would be expected that it would not have the bottom end torque of a 500 single cylinder thumper, I think 500cc is abit small to tunn into a Twin cylinder motor on a Utility ATV.

Renegade 500 or Sportsman 500?</end quote></div>
The Renegade is a sport quad with limited utility. I just got my 5th ATV and 4 were Sportsman 500s so I may be biased. But they cost a lot less than the Renegade 500, have bigger tires with much better tread, a better 4x4 system, ADC Active Decent Control which is like engine braking on all 4 wheels, a solid steel frame and skid-plate, <u>270 pound rack capacity versus 35 pounds</u>, and a few other thing I think are better.

Between the Renegade and Sportsman, Sportsman hands down for any utility work, and the Renegade for more sport stuff. But yeah, if the Renegade is much more expensive than the Polaris, might not be worth it. Go at least sit on them if you can, you might hate one and love the other one. But if price is a BIG concern, the Can-Am's are pricey. And on the other hand, if you can't stop thinking about the Renegade, then maybe thats just the quad you want and thats it. Don't buy something you don't really want or will regret later. It'll basically come down to, price vs want...unless you really like the Sportsman, then there you go.
